The new french Internet Service Provider Budget Telecom marks its difference on the market of DSL access. Its last recipe? A specific high-speed DSL access dedicated to british people living in France.
For some years, between 150 and 250 000 British have crossed the Channel to settle down and live in France (Brittany or Southwest areas for example). Budget Telecom decided to propose them a special DSL package called «AngloPack». It includes a high-speed Internet access until 20 Mbits/sec, a Wireless modem and 2 hours of free communications towards the fixed phones in the United Kingdom, the United States, Ireland, Australia and Canada.
Charged 29,90 euro a month, the AngloPack also includes an English local number so that the close relations stayed in the country can join the subscriber on the Bbox modem to the preferential rate of 2 pence per minute. Without commitment, this new offer of Budget Telecom is adapted to the needs of English-speaking customers.
The Budget Telecom’strategy consists in finding some niches that others ISP have not exploited yet. The "low cost" access provider does not want to face its main competitors on their own ground. "We target community by proposing them offers and services adapted to their needs" says the Assistant General Manager of Budget Telecom, Luc Terral. Moreover, Budget Telecom should also become MVNO (virtual operator of mobile telephony) to offer specific packages to foreigners in France (Anglo-Saxon, African and Asian).
With AngloPack, Budget Telecom provides an easy way for british people living in France to subscribe to a high-speed Internet access
Budget Telecom multiplies the initiatives on niche markets. Internet users are looking for personalized services, adapted to their situation. After the launch of a 20 euros DSL offer which does not require the subscriber to have traditional land-line telephone service, Budget Telecom build on British customers interested by high-speed access but slowed down by the difficulty of the French language. Budget Telecom takes the opposite of the others ISP. Instead of offering a similar package, Budget Telecom does its own way by customizing its services from requirements of one community.
